Alice, Sophie and Lucy Pulvers were born and educated in Japan until 2001. Although the three sisters have distinctive styles in their painting and drawing, they have each been profoundly influenced by their early, formative aesthetic experiences in Japan. Alice paints in gouache and oil. Her paintings are representational, depicting primarily human and animal subjects. Sophie, who has a background in environmental science, paints large, bold works primarily of animal subjects in synthetic polymer paint on canvas. Lucy paints in oil, watercolour and ink. Lucy's work is mostly figurative. 
Alice, Sophie and Lucy regularly accept commissions for human and animal portraits as well as commissions of book illustrations.
